Bill Crane
Senior Advisor for Energy Reliability and Resilience
Born and raised in West Virginia, Major General (Ret.) Bill Crane has spent more than four decades serving his state and nation. As former Adjutant General of West Virginia, he commanded more than 6,000 Soldiers and Airmen in the West Virginia National Guard while overseeing military, emergency response, and homeland security operations across the state.
Throughout his military career, Bill learned a fundamental lesson: reliability matters. Military readiness depends on resilient systems, secure infrastructure, and the ability to perform when conditions are most challenging. He held senior leadership positions, including Director of the Joint Staff, Chief of Staff of the West Virginia Army National Guard, and United States Property and Fiscal Officer for West Virginia. He also deployed to Baghdad, Iraq, in support of national security operations.
Today, Bill is the owner of Crane Strategic Solutions, where he advises organizations on national security, critical infrastructure protection, and resiliency. Drawing on decades of experience protecting critical systems, he advocates for strengthening America’s energy infrastructure, improving grid reliability, and ensuring the nation remains prepared for future challenges.
